AIRPORT PAINTINGS

From 2005- 2009, my subject matter was drawn from the ordinary places that we, as humans, create and inhabit. I was also interested in memory. This is one of the bodies of painting from this period where I focused specifically on place.

In these paintings I contrast the utility and modernity inherent in the architecture and surrounding landscapes of airports with romantic depiction. The content of these paintings revolves around the relationship between the pragmatic activities and anonymous surroundings of an airport and the highly personal physiological states associated with air travel.
